The most common cause of a jamming blaster is incorrectly soaked balls. Under-soaked, they block the gearbox; over-soaked, they burst in the magazine. Here is how to get it right:

1. 1Measure the amount. Measure about one teaspoon of dry gel balls per litre of water. That already yields hundreds of ready-to-use balls, since they expand significantly.
2. 2Soak in lukewarm water. Soak the balls for 3 to 4 hours in lukewarm water. Do not use hot water, as the balls would become brittle.
3. 3Check the size. The balls are ready at about 7 to 8 millimetres and a firm, elastic feel. If they crush easily, they were in the water too long.
4. 4Drain. Pour off the excess water through a sieve and let the balls drain briefly to avoid feeding issues in the magazine.
5. 5Store. Keep the finished balls in an airtight container in the fridge. They last about a week there.
